Core gameplay systems?

This patch I noticed that there was a new splash screen for battles, some new mobs and you can use the escape button to exit the game now. Exactly what part of CORE gameplay systems am I missing here with this update because those updates don't seem too CORE to me?

The new main menu screen where it makes it easier to find arena battles, its also easier to make and save the settings you want of what creatures you want to fight in the Arena and the packs. So far the amount of battles has gone up dramatically. The core gameplay is soooo much better it is soo much easier to find arena battles and they finally fixed the ranking system.
