Interesting gameplay

Can anyone tell me why someone with 12% initiative against 88% would forego the killing blow to heal themselves and then low and behold get the initiative to deliver said 'killing blow''?

I may add it took them a little while to make this decision??

They may not have had any attacks available. A low Ferocity pet playing a defensive strategy may only have one or two attacks. That killing blow was also more likely to be successful with the 'fortunate' initiative, while the heal before it gave them chance to survive one more round as attacks cooled down. Seems easy enough to come up with plausible scenarios.

As for the time to decide - you never know what is happening on the other side - interruptions, mistakes, and other factors can make any opponent seem idiotic or clueless.
