Raids - why do our pets defend to lose?

Typical raid defence.

Opponent 50% health.
Best Choice; Attack hard.
Actual: Mediate (when not required)
Next best choice: Attack Hard
Actual: heal buff without initative.
Outcome: Pathetic Loss.

Are we forced to load our pets with just attack options, to avoid the system "deliberately" making our pet lose as much gold as it can for multi raids on the trot?

That's a fair input. We are working on changes in raids and abilities systems, so this problem will be no more in next 2 patches. Not the next patch, unfortunately.
