#1. Justify!
Some pets depend on their natural features more than you might expect. Even though canines do not utilize their claws to the extent of their feline competitors, such as climbing vertical surfaces, they may still require full use of their nails in defensive situations. In some cases, trimming of the nails can lead to extended periods of depression or lethargy.
#2. Identify Breed
Knowing your patient is key! Some canine varieties, such as the beagle, are easily pacified with a simple treat.. such as peanut butter or a rawhide chew toy. But WATCH OUT if you are attempting to manipulate the paws on such breeds as Zuul's terror variety... you should expect a finger or two instead of common treats as a pacifier instead!
